What is the Navy League?

We are a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to supporting the men and women of our sea services. We are a civilian organization which is part of a worldwide association of over 30,000 members in 200 councils across America, Europe, and Asia. Locally, we are comprised of over 200 members and support individuals of the sea services located in Southeastern New England. Our membership is comprised of individuals and local corporations.

We advocate – we educate – the public and our Congress on the need for a strong, effective, and capable Sea Services – Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and US Flag Merchant Marine. Our council also supports the families of the Sea Service members. In addition, we support two Sea Cadet units for the youth (ages 11-17) of our communities.

Our council holds approximately ten events each year in which we pay tribute to and honor our local service men and woman. In addition, we participate in approximately 150 graduation and award ceremonies at local Navy and Coast Guard commands.

NEWPORT, R.I. (March 2, 2022) Chief Hospital Corpsman Christopher Mascarina, a Recruit Division Commander (RDC) assigned to Officer Training Command, Newport (OTCN), Rhode Island, measure the name plate placement on an Officer Candidate School (OCS) class 09-22 students during the sixth-week uniform inspection, March 2, 2022. The sixth-week inspection evaluates a student’s confidence, discipline, and attention to detail, while ensuring their uniforms are worn correctly in accordance with Navy uniform regulations. OCS morally, mentally, and physically develops civilians and fleet sailors into newly commissioned officers and imbues them with the highest ideals of honor, courage, and commitment to prepare graduates for service in the fleet as Naval officers.
